RE: Enough Truck

All I can say, is that my friend has a 03 F350 SRW CC 4X4 6.0L and has had "that" trailer for about a year now. We've gone on several long and short trips and I have have not heard one complaint about the towing performance or (your main question) "safety" of his set-up. And trust me if there was one, I would have heard about it. In fact all he has said is how great the package is. Since he got his trailer, all I've been thinking about is selling my trailer and getting one myself. I have the same truck but it's an 07. Thats just my $.02

RE: cal. city fee

Yeah,I paid ours last riding season when they had the trailer set up at Borax Bill's. I had no problem handing over the dough. As long as they spend the money on "PRO-RIDING" stuff, I'll keep paying every year. The way we keep losing public riding lands due to greenies and fires (i.e. Rowher Flats, Drinkwater Flats and now the Piutes), Cal City might be all thats left :(

RE: Fuzion 302 Hide-a-Bed in Booth?

I looked at one a few months ago and did not have one either. The dealer was unable to tell me if it was an option or not.

RE: Hungry Valley

One last question. I have a 39 foot TH 5'er with a 2 wheel drive dually Dodge. Will I have any issues with getting stuck if I drive in.
No.........Unless some freaky rain/snow storm moves in, so more than likely you'll be fine.

RE: fuzion 403 with Dodge Ram 3500 Mega Cab 6.7 Diesel

I still think speed has more to contribute to safety and longevity of your tires then anything
I agree!!
I think you'll be fine, just remember.....slow and easy. Getting there is half the fun.

:E WOW.............I was expecting something a lot different than that.
That thing turned out GREAT!!!!! I would rather have you work on my rig than some of the people they have at the dealerships. You really take pride in your work.

RE: Banks Stinger System

I would just do the exhaust and intake. That will give you a little more HP and torque for towing. It will also lower your EGT's a bit too. I would stay away from programmers/chips, that seems to be when everyone starts have issues with the 6.0 engine. Everyone I know that has just exhaust/intake mods....no problems. The two guys with chip/programmers........PROBLEMS!(i.e. turbo's going out, head gaskets blowing out causing oil contamination, tranny issues and injector issues).

RE: Anybody Towing With the 5.4L in a Superduty Crewcab?

Keith99RS
I am curous as to the gearing on a V10 that gets the same mpg as a 5.4L. My father has a 2000 F140 4X4 with 3.73's and tow package and routinely gets 14-15mpg around town. My coworker has a 2001 V10 4X4 with towpackage and gets 10-12mpg. My Dad is a mileage geek and my cworker has been doing the math to justify a motorcycle or a 4 cylinder Ranger for commuting.
My V10 had 3.73's at first, then I changed them to 4.30's. I believe my F150 had 3.55's. I have a 75 mile commute and when my old truck had the 3.73's, I would get 12-13 mpg. When I went to the 4.30's, it went down to about 11-12. The best my F150 ever got in he 2 1/2 years I drove it was 14 mpg and averaged 12-13. Same exact driving......I don't why, but that was MY experience with the two different engines. For $500.00 more and mile or two less mpg, I think the V10 is a better choice.....thats just my $0.02

RE: Anybody Towing With the 5.4L in a Superduty Crewcab?

I believe the V10 upgrade is only a $500.00 option. I went from a 2000 F150 4X4 with the 5.4 to a 2002 F250 V10 4X4 and the milage was the same. I would get the V10, then you won't have any concerns and you won't have that thought in the back of your head of "should I have gotten the bigger one???????"

RE: Possible Upgrade to Ragen FA3405 or 3805

We have a 2006 FA3405 and are very happy with it. Our only regret is that we should have waited till the 2007 models came out and got it with a slide, other than that its a great trailer. When we head out to the desert, I have it loaded down with four dirt bikes, enough food and drinks for four days, 150 gal. of fresh water and all the other stuff needed for the trip. I have a F350 PSD with firestone air bags and it tows it with no problems. Your truck should easily handle a 3405. I don't think you would have a problem getting five quads in there either. I don't know how much the 3805 weighs in comparison to the UVW of the 3405(just under 10,000lbs), so I can't say if it will be too much for you or not? My guess is it would put you over your ratings, but by how much I don't know????
I hope this helps and good luck with your purchase. You will be very happy with Rage'n.

Mather Campground (Grand Canyon) questions????

Howdy,
The family and I are heading to the Grand Canyon (Mather Campground)next week and I have a few questions that the park's web page can't answer.
First: They say you can only have fires in the campsites BBQ. Are these the big round fire rings with a grill attached or are they the raised square BBQ's you find at your local park??? It is going to be down in the 20's at night, so I'm hoping to have a real campfire to keep us warm.
Second: We are planning on taking our Mountain Bikes to get around and see stuff. Are the paths along the rim for foot traffic only or do they allow bikes too????? Are you allowed to ride on other paths within the park or are you restricted to only the roadways????
And Third: It has been over twenty years since I was at the Grand Canyon.....I barley remember it. What are the "Must See" things.....Other than the Canyon of course.
Thanx in advance,
Roach

RE: Ford V-10 vs Diesel

The diesel costs more up front ($6,295 more than the v10) and higher in maintenance.
If your daily driving is short - then you'll kill a diesel. They have to run 10-20 miles just to get to operating temp.
You get more torque from a diesel, but a v10 with 4.30 (a $50 upgrade) or better gears will pull as much weight with out any issues.
The v10 is a tried and true engine - no matter what year it is. The newer 3v engine pump out more HP and Toque than the older engines did (more comparable to diesels). The 6.4 on the other hand, has not been around long and has already had some issues and if it's like it's predecessor (the 6.0)... well, the track record is not that great.
So IMHO - I'd go for the v10.
:B You nailed it........Dido

RE: Need help picking out new trailer

I'm saving my pennies in hopes of getting a Fuzion 362. It has good living space and a washer/dryer hook up in the garage. I think some models of KZ, XLR (Forest River) and Cyclone trailers also have washer/dryer hook ups as well as large living spaces. Good luck!!

RE: Which air bags to buy?

I had the Air Lift on my old truck and have the Firestones on my new one. I liked the Firestones better because of the,"no drilling installation." Air Lift might have this now too, but they didn't when I bought them.

RE: Floorplans

The Fuzion 302 by Keystone RV is 35' with a garage and a full closet at the front of the trailer and two slides. I looked at one and liked it. The only sitting area is a "U" shaped dinette that slides out with plenty of windows (4). Plenty of room for 4-6 people to sit depending on belly size:R. Unfortunately it does not pull out into a bed, might be an option though????

RE: V-10 TOWING

I had a 2002 F250 V10 CC SB 4X4. Great truck! Great motor!! Our trailer was about 12,000-13,000 lbs. The truck pulled it good with the 3.73 gears. I changed them out with 4.30 gears and WOW what a difference. The best $1500.00 I ever spent on that truck. Forget engine and exhaust mods, changing the gears is all that truck/engine needs!
